Why the lighthouse?
Years ago at a channeling session with a group that called themselves the “Broad Band” (first because they were all women and loved the idea of being called “broads” and second, because they were part of The Band), a member asked a question regarding her son. Seems the son was going through a very difficult time and was addicted to drugs. He was not working, sleeping all day, out all night and had already been arrested twice on various charges. She wanted to know if The Band could give her any suggestions on how to help her son.
“Be the Lighthouse”
The Band provided the following guidance:
Think of a lighthouse. A lighthouse is firmly embedded in bedrock. No wind, nor rain nor storm can knock the lighthouse over. It is solid. It will not go anywhere. It’s reason for existence is to shine a light for those that are out to sea. It provides guidance by letting the ships know that if they follow the light, they will soon come to safe harbor. The lighthouse remains in it’s permanent location so that all that travel will know exactly where they are and more importantly where the lighthouse and hence the “light” is.
The lighthouse does not attempt to go out to sea to rescue the ships. If it did, all would be lost. You must be like the lighthouse. Firmly embedded in place with your love, your strength and your wisdom. Do not attempt to follow your son and “fix” him. If you do, all will be lost. Instead shine your light so that he knows where “home” is and when he is ready, he will be able to return to safe harbor. But remember, it is always the ship’s choice as to whether it stays out in the storm, or whether it chooses to come “home.”
